Last Weekend...

... we took a roadtrip to...

Saskatchewan, naturally.

It was for a funeral and the trip felt like a l.o.n.g. one, but...

(among other things) I am thankful for:

*
A visit with WONDERFUL friends, that we wish we could see more, and for them letting us crash at their place with only a couple hours notice!

*
Built in DVD players.

*
Children who are learning, more and more, how to entertain themselves.

*
Being able to take pictures of Miss. A & L WITHOUT them squirming or running away! (Unfair... I know!)

*
A mighty handsome traveling companion.
(Though, at this point I had bluegrass music blaring and was seeing an old ballad about stealing chickens at the top of my lungs... so combine this with Jon's LOVE of picture taking and you might understand why his absolutely thrilled expression is a little more legitimized!!)

*
A hotel with a water slide.

*
A husband who knows me well enough to say “just try it”... and being pleasantly surprised by how much fun the water slide was!

*
That my water babies have a Daddy who loves water equally as much as they do!

*
For a kids tunnel (and a Daddy who could FIT in the kids tunnel when this pregnant mama couldn't)...

... that led to this fun play area (and for the free entertainment of watching Jon try to squeeze in, and go down, the slide at the end!!)

*
Being able to show the girls the area where Daddy grew up...

... even if the farm looks NOTHING like it once did. (Sadly enough.)

*
Taking a “SK style detour” when our shortcut road was completely under water.

*
Visiting with relatives that we WISH we could see more... and the girls taking to them like bees to honey!

*
And that even though we were SO READY to get home, my husband will pull over (without me asking!) so I can snap a couple pictures of dream houses along the way... simply because he knows it makes me smile!

This road trip was made on short notice and we would have preferred saying goodbye in other ways, but we were really thankful for the chance to spend time with loved ones.

Crazy to think that the next road trip will include a FIFTH member of our family, eh?!?!
