Tonight we went for our FIRST family snow mobile ride. This might not seem like a big deal, but let me assure you, it is! Anytime I get on a sled I feel like a fumbling idiot... add the extra pressure of holding a kid AND driving this loud, heavy, beastly, machine... yeah, um, big deal!
I had my moments of "Oh gracious, this was a bad idea..." and I have no doubt that the same thought crossed Alia's mind a time or two, but ... being able to "let 'er fly" across the field and through the ravine... made it all worth it!
I'm learning that the throttle is my friend! A fun, confident, helpful, loyal, LOUD friend.
The throttle may be friendly... but the grader ridges and steep hills definitely are NOT!
By the end of our little excursion I was getting the hang of it... sort of!
I won't mention that I was too chicken to go up the steep "snow mountain" in our backyard and that my hottie husband had to come rescue both me, his oldest child, and his red snowmobile from utter disaster! :)
There may or may not have been an instance (or two!) involving Alia TAPPING her chin on the handle bar. (I know... I know... that gets me knocked right out of the running for "Mother-of-the-Year" award... for LIFE!) Since she is such a snow mobile lover, she graciously let it slide and continued to ride with me. BUT... when we got home her first question to Jonathan was... "Daddy why DOES Mommy drive so bad?!?!"... and well, the proof is in the pudding!
Alia's poor little chin is a reminder of her ride with "Mommy... the bad driver!"
The snow trooper was still able to give the camera a hearty "CHEESE!" But she, huh hum, MIGHT have been bribed her with the promise of a nice warm bath and hot chocolate!
All in all... it's safe to say, I'm a little rusty! And that I look forward to MANY more family snow mobile outings next winter! I'm SLIGHTLY starting to understand why Jonathan gets all giddy with each fresh new snow fall... but only slightly! :)
Alia's question to Jon!!!! SO FUNNY!
ReplyDeleteShe'll have great memories of it, I'm sure!
